A pair of Humpty Dumpty brand wooden egg crates, each featuring a construction of weathered horizontal slats secured by vertical metal rods. The crates are designed with hinged lids, each fitted with a top-mounted cylindrical wooden handle on a metal bail. The side slats bear stencilled text reading Humpty Dumpty followed by PATENTED AUG. 22. 1899. One crate contains a set of tiered cardboard honeycomb separators for egg storage, while the other is empty. The bases are reinforced with wooden runners and the lids are secured with wire hinges. Dimensions (measured against a ruler, only inches shown): Height approx. 30.5 cm x Width approx. 33 cm. Condition: Both items exhibit signs of significant age and use, including a heavy accumulation of dust and surface weathering to the timber. The metal rods and handle bails show surface corrosion and oxidation. The cardboard separators in the interior of one crate are present but show wear and tearing consistent with age.
