Marvin Chico Posey, Jr. (1964–2003) — Lovers, Acrylic on Canvas. Artwork: 20 x 16 in. Frame: 29 x 25 in. Expect to pay $2000 and up in a gallery. Original acrylic on canvas by Marvin Chico Posey, Jr. (1964–2003), depicting an intimate couple in a stylized embrace. Posey renders the figures with elongated forms, simplified facial features, and strong dark contours, set against a richly layered background of red, blue, violet, yellow, and earthy tones. The close positioning of the figures and gently inclined heads create a tender, contemplative composition characteristic of Poseys expressive figurative work. Signed Posey at the lower right. Presented in a substantial giltwood frame. A striking and emotionally engaging work with excellent decorative presence, combining Posey’s distinctive treatment of the human figure with a warm, romantic subject. Condition: Very good overall condition. Frame exhibits minor scattered age-appropriate rubbing, surface marks and wear to the gilt finish. Please be sure and view all photos. This auction house considers the photos as the condition report.
