Marvin Chico Posey, Jr. (1964–2003) — Jazz Musicians, Acrylic on Canvas. Artwork: 20 x 16 in. Frame: 29 x 25 in. Expect to pay $2000 and up in a gallery. Vibrant original acrylic on canvas by Marvin Chico Posey, Jr. (1964–2003), depicting two jazz musicians in performance, one playing trumpet and the other upright bass. Posey employs an energetic palette of saturated purples, turquoise, coral, orange, green, and pink, with stylized, expressive figures and strongly defined forms that convey the rhythm and atmosphere of a live jazz performance. Signed “Posey” at the lower right. Presented in a substantial giltwood frame. An especially colorful and decorative example of Poseys music-themed work, combining the visual energy of modern figurative painting with a classic jazz subject. Condition: Very good overall condition with light age-appropriate wear to the frame, including minor scattered rubbing, small losses and surface marks to the gilt finish. Please be sure and view all photos. This auction house considers the photos as the condition report.
