A vibrant limited-edition serigraph on canvas by celebrated Chinese-American artist Jiang Tiefeng (b. 1938), titled Sweet Lady – Yellow. Artist signed lower right and hand-numbered 140/250 lower left. The identification is supported by an auction record for Sweet Lady-Yellow describing the work as an artist-signed limited-edition serigraph on canvas. This exceptionally colorful composition features an elegant blue female figure surrounded by a dazzling tapestry of abstracted figures, flowers and rhythmic linear patterns. Her dramatically flowing black hair is articulated with intricate gold lines and jewel-like accents, while saturated reds, blues, yellows, greens and oranges create the brilliant decorative effect for which Jiang is recognized. The complex layering of figurative and abstract forms gives the image remarkable movement and allows new details to emerge with repeated viewing. Jiang Tiefeng was born in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China, in 1938 and trained at Beijing's Central Academy of Fine Arts. He became a founder of the influential Yunnan School, whose artists combined traditional Chinese influences with bold color, stylized figuration and modern abstraction. Jiang came to the United States in the 1980s, and his distinctive compositions—frequently featuring women, animals, flowers and richly patterned imagery—developed an international following. Sweet Lady – Yellow is an excellent example of Jiang's immediately recognizable aesthetic, particularly his combination of intense color, graceful female imagery, calligraphic line and decorative pattern. It is beautifully presented in a substantial antiqued black-and-gold frame with linen liner and black inner molding. Condition Very good overall condition with strong, vibrant coloration. Minor scattered surface marks and light wear may be present consistent with age and display. Frame exhibits minor rubbing and surface wear. Overall an attractive, well-presented example.
