Framed Collection of Native American Stone Projectile Points. An attractive and substantial collection of approximately 50 Native American-style chipped-stone projectile points, commonly referred to as arrowheads, presented in a custom shadowbox display. The assemblage includes a wide variety of forms—triangular, lanceolate, stemmed, contracting-stem, and notched examples—worked from flint/chert and other lithic materials in shades of black, gray, tan, cream, and reddish brown. Several pieces display convincing hand-flaked surfaces and weathering, and the collection includes multiple point traditions rather than a single uniform type. However, individual point types, find locations, archaeological context, and collection history are undocumented, so I would not assign these to a particular tribe. Projectile-point styles can span large geographic areas and long periods, and shape alone generally cannot establish tribal affiliation. The collection is particularly decorative, professionally presented beneath glass with a handsome burl-wood-style frame, geometric inlaid border, layered matting, and contrasting inner surround. The quality of the presentation adds considerably to its appeal as a display collection. Frame: 19 × 17 in. Age / Attribution Points: Possibly prehistoric Native American, various periods; exact age and cultural attribution undetermined. Tribe: Not determined. Condition: Overall very good display condition. Projectile points exhibit expected variations in surface, edge wear, patination, losses and irregularities consistent with lithic artifacts and/or collected field specimens. Some examples appear fragmentary or worn. Points are mounted within the display; method of attachment has not been examined. Frame and matting present well with minor expected wear.
