Jiang Tiefeng (Chinese, b. 1938), Sweet Lady – Pink, Limited Edition Serigraph on Canvas. Artwork: 14 × 14 in. Frame: 21 × 21 in. A vibrant limited-edition serigraph on canvas by noted Chinese-American artist Jiang Tiefeng (b. 1938), from his celebrated Sweet Lady series. This example, depicting the pink-toned variation, is artist signed in gold lower right and hand-numbered 140/250 lower left. The composition presents an elegant female figure surrounded by an exuberant tapestry of brilliant reds, pinks, blues, golds, greens and oranges. Her extraordinarily long black hair sweeps dramatically across the composition, intricately delineated with metallic-gold lines and jewel-like accents. Jiang surrounds the central figure with overlapping animals, floral imagery and abstract linear forms, producing the richly layered, almost dreamlike quality characteristic of his work. Born in Ningbo, China, in 1938, Jiang Tiefeng studied at Beijing's Central Academy of Fine Arts and became an important figure associated with the Yunnan School of Painting. His distinctive style combines elements of traditional Chinese imagery with modern abstraction, brilliant color and elaborate linear pattern. After coming to the United States in the 1980s, his paintings and limited-edition works developed an international following. This is a particularly colorful and decorative example of Jiang's work, beautifully presented in a substantial antiqued black-and-gold frame with linen liner and black inner molding. Condition: Very good overall condition with strong, vibrant coloration. The canvas surface presents attractively with minor scattered surface wear consistent with age and display. Frame exhibits some rubbing, finish wear and minor surface marks. Overall very good presentation.
