A collection of 12 vintage postcards, primarily featuring ethnographic studies and scenes of Indigenous life in the American Southwest. The set includes eleven Fred Harvey postcards printed by the Detroit Photographic Co. (Detroit Publishing Co.) and one landscape card of Morning Glory Pool in Yellowstone National Park copyrighted by Haynes in 1917. The Fred Harvey cards feature the company stylized trade mark on the reverse and cover a variety of tribes and locations. Portrait subjects include A Navaho Papoose (H-2245), Yaz-Yah, A Navajo Girl (H-2275), and Buffalo Calf, a Jicarilla Apache (H-2244). Scene subjects include Taking the Elevator, Hopi Village (H-2273), Hopi Snake Dance (H-5898), Tesuque Woman Making Rain Gods (H-1950), Baking Bread, Pueblo of Tesuque (H-2414), Mojave Woman on the Desert (H-2239), Indian Men in Ceremonial Dance Costume (H-2072), The First Riding Lesson (H-2075), and Apaches Halting for Water at Rio Navaho (H-2240). The cards are produced using color lithography, with many exhibiting the characteristic linen texture of the period. One card includes a detailed printed description of Apache bands on the reverse. Dimensions: approx. 9 cm x 14 cm per card (measured against a ruler). Condition: The postcards are in good vintage condition and are unposted with clean, unwritten reverse sides. Visible wear is limited to light edge rubbing and minor bumping at the corners consistent with age. There are no major creases, tears, or significant foxing present.
