This lot features four vintage inlaid tray-style jigsaw puzzles manufactured by the Jaymar Specialty Co. of New York. The collection includes three puzzles featuring characters from the Popeye the Sailor Man comic strip and one puzzle featuring Bugs Bunny. Each puzzle is constructed of die-cut cardboard pieces inlaid into a matching tray and mounted on a solid heavy cardboard backing. The three Popeye puzzles depict various character interactions: 1. A courtyard scene with Popeye playing a guitar for Olive Oyl and Swee'Pea, while Wimpy consumes a hamburger. 2. A jungle scene with Popeye, Olive Oyl, and Wimpy being confronted by a crouching tiger. 3. An indoor domestic scene showing Bluto/Brutus presenting flowers and candy to Olive Oyl while Popeye sits beside her, and Swee'Pea plays a drum in the foreground. These puzzles are marked with a circular Jaymar Popeye INLAID logo, which includes the manufacturer's address at 200 Fifth Avenue, New York, N. Y., as well as model numbers 33 and 247. The Bugs Bunny puzzle portrays Bugs Bunny, Sylvester the cat, and two gophers stealing carrots from Elmer Fudd's garden. It features a rectangular mark identifying the maker as Jaymar Specialty Co., New York, and includes a copyright for Warner Bros. Pictures, Inc. and model number 33. Dimensions: Width approx 11.25 inches (read from visible ruler). Condition: The puzzles are in used vintage condition, exhibiting surface scuffing, edge wear, and minor creasing to the individual pieces. The Bugs Bunny puzzle is complete with all pieces present. The Popeye guitar scene puzzle is missing two pieces. The Popeye jungle scene puzzle is missing one piece. The Popeye indoor scene puzzle is missing one piece. No original retail boxes are included with this lot.
