Three pieces of small antique iron and ceramic. (1) Asbestos Sad Iron base in cast iron, embossed across the top ASBESTOS 72-B SAD IRON, about 6 inches long. Sad irons of this pattern were heated on a stove and then capped with a detachable asbestos-lined hood and wooden handle; the hood and handle are not present, so this is the iron body only. It carries heavy rust and surface pitting over a smooth sole plate. (2) Miniature cast iron skillet about 3 1/2 inches long overall with a pour spout at each side and a hanging hole in the handle; the pan is rusted throughout and no maker mark is visible on the base. (3) Small white glazed ceramic piece with a hole through the wide end, impressed TAIWAN on one side and 202259 on the other, about 1 3/4 inches tall, with rust staining around the hole. The consignor listing gave those marks as TATAY and 30259 and called the piece an electrical insulator; the photos show TAIWAN and 202259, and the intended use is not clear from the piece itself. Condition is fair on the two iron pieces because of the rust and good on the ceramic. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
