Three reference books on engines, machine shop practice, and motor control. (1) American Gasoline Engines Since 1872 by C. H. Wendel, published by Crestline Publishing of Sarasota, Florida, edited and designed by George H. Dammann. This thick yellow hardcover is the standard alphabetical reference for hit-and-miss and stationary engine collectors, packed with period illustrations and factory data, and it is still quoted constantly at engine shows. The binding is tight and the pages are clean, with a few small marks on the covers. (2) Electric Motor Control by Walter N. Alerich, Delmar Publishers of Albany, New York, copyright 1975, softcover, with line diagrams and wiring schematics for starters, relays, and controllers. The cover is creased and soiled with a price written in ink at the top corner; the text pages are clean. (3) American Machinists' Handbook, Seventh Edition, by Fred H. Colvin and Frank A. Stanley, McGraw-Hill Book Company, a maroon cloth pocket handbook of 1387 pages with over 2500 illustrations, formulas, and shop tables. The front hinge carries an old cloth tape repair and the endpapers are tanned. Condition is good on the first two books and fair on the machinists handbook because of the repair. Sold as-is.
