Footed console bowl in white pottery with molded grape leaf and vine relief, a fluted rim, and gold trim worked over the raised detail. The base carries the original black and gold foil label reading Haeger, Gold Tweed Glaze, 22 K Gold, along with impressed marks in the clay. Haeger Potteries of Dundee, Illinois has been producing art pottery since 1871, and its gold-decorated console pieces were a fixture of 1950s and 1960s American living rooms, which is why an intact foil label like this one matters to collectors. The bowl measures roughly 12 inches long and stands about 7 inches tall on its flared pedestal foot. The molded form leaves a large open oval at the center of the floor where the bowl meets the pedestal; the original consignor listing described that opening as a drainage hole, which is not what it is. The gold is rubbed and thin along the rim and on the high points of the relief, as is usual on this ware, and no chips or cracks are visible. Condition is very good. Sold as-is.
