New Orleans Tin with Spools and Small Novelties

Round lithographed tin filled with wooden sewing spools and a mix of small collectibles and novelties. The lid carries a watercolor view captioned Brulatour Patio, Old New Orleans, with French Quarter street sketches around the green sides, and the back panel reads Baked by Patio Confections Company, Division of Carver Foods Company, Houston, Texas. Inside are roughly two dozen wooden thread spools, most unused, including three orange painted Belding Corticelli spools and two blue painted spools, plus turned wood dowels and beads and three tiny framed slate panels hung on thread. The loose pieces include a chrome pocket gauge with a screw knob and a numbered scale reading 100 to 500, a Lucky Lager bottle opener lettered It's Lucky when you Live in America, a blue plastic Chicken Shake egg shaker marked Daito Taiwan, two metal jacks, a small hanging bird toy with a sponge, a yellow plastic swan, a tiny glass swan, two small plastic dolls, a carved wood animal, a cast metal Scottie dog, and a wooden push-button collapsing animal toy with a split in its base. The consignor recorded the chrome gauge as marked H.B. Rouse Mfg Co., but no maker name is legible in the photos. The tin has rim rust and scratches through the printing.
