Stellarscope star finder, a hand-held star locator made in France by Sculptures-Jeux of Paris to a design by Bernard Vuarnesson, with the American distributor shown on the box as Sarut of New York and a 1997 patent and trademark date printed on the packaging. You fit the ring for your latitude, turn the calendar band to the date and hour, sight through the tube, and the instrument shows which constellations should be overhead. The set includes the scope body, about 5 1/2 inches long, three interchangeable latitude rings covering 20 to 30, 30 to 40, and 50 to 60 degrees, a black end cap, a sealed bag holding a small black accessory that appears to be the pocket viewing light described in the instructions, the printed instruction sheet, and the original navy box printed with star charts. The box measures about 8 inches long and shows shelf wear with a tear at one end flap. The instrument itself appears unused. Condition is very good. Not tested for function. Sold as-is.
