Autographed 1989 TV Sports Mailbag #27 Al Kaline MLB Hall Of Fame Induction 8X10 Stat Sheet (Limited Edition Of 1000). Kaline spent his entire 22 season Major League career with Detroit from 1953 through 1974, remarkably joining the Tigers directly out of high school at just 18 years old and never spending a day in the minor leagues. A superb combination of hitting, power and defensive excellence, Kaline finished his career with 3,007 hits, 399 home runs, 1,583 RBI and a .297 lifetime batting average, while earning 18 All Star selections and 10 Gold Glove Awards. In 1955, at only 20 years old, Kaline captured the American League batting championship with a .340 average, becoming the youngest player of the 20th century to win a Major League batting title. His defining team achievement came in 1968, when Kaline helped lead Detroit to a dramatic seven game World Series victory over the defending champion St. Louis Cardinals, batting an outstanding .379 with two home runs and eight RBI during the Fall Classic. He reached the prestigious 3,000 hit milestone in 1974, further cementing his standing among baseball's elite, and his iconic No. 6 became the first uniform number retired by the Detroit Tigers. Kaline was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in his first year of eligibility in 1980, receiving 88.3 percent of the vote, and remained closely associated with the Tigers organization for decades after his playing career. Kaline passed away in 2020 at the age of 85, permanently limiting the supply of authentic material signed during his lifetime.
