Autographed 1989 TV Sports Mailbag #23 Eddie Mathews MLB Hall Of Fame Induction 8X10 Stat Sheet (Limited Edition Of 1000). A limited edition commemorative piece honoring one of the greatest third basemen and most prolific power hitters in Major League Baseball history and limited to just 1,000 examples. The display celebrates Mathews' induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame with classic imagery and a presentation of his remarkable career statistics, while Mathews has personally signed the piece, creating an especially desirable Hall of Fame collectible from one of the defining stars of the Braves franchise. Mathews spent the overwhelming majority of his 17 season Major League career with the Braves organization, uniquely representing the franchise in Boston, Milwaukee and Atlanta, and formed one of baseball's most feared power hitting combinations alongside fellow Hall of Famer Hank Aaron. Mathews finished his career with 512 home runs, 1,509 RBI, 1,444 runs scored and 2,315 hits, earned 12 All Star selections, and twice led the National League in home runs. His tremendous power helped propel Milwaukee to consecutive National League pennants in 1957 and 1958, with Mathews playing a pivotal role in the Braves' 1957 World Series championship over the New York Yankees. He later concluded his playing career with the Detroit Tigers and was a member of their 1968 World Series championship team, giving him championships at both ends of an extraordinary career. Mathews was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1978, and his iconic No. 41 was retired by the Braves. Particularly significant for autograph collectors, Mathews passed away in 2001 at the age of 69, permanently limiting the supply of authentic material signed during his lifetime. Combining an Eddie Mathews autograph, limited edition production of only 1,000, Hall of Fame commemorative presentation and the legacy of a 500 Home Run Club member, two time World Series champion and one of baseball's greatest third basemen, this impressive piece represents a tremendous addition to any Eddie Mathews, Braves, Hall of Fame or advanced baseball autograph collection.
