A 90 percent silver Washington quarter from the Denver Mint, with the D plainly visible on the reverse below the wreath between QUARTER and DOLLAR. The coin is circulated. Washington's cheekbone and the hair over the ear are worn smooth, while the hair ribbon and the curls at the neck keep partial detail. The reverse eagle has a flat breast with wing feathers present but soft. Even medium grey with light golden-brown toning at the obverse rim and a small dark spot on the eagle's breast. Rims are full, with no dings, no scratches and no signs of cleaning. The coin holds 0.1808 troy ounces of pure silver, roughly $11.95 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. The Washington quarter was struck in 1932 for the two hundredth anniversary of Washington's birth and was meant to be a one-year commemorative. It replaced the Standing Liberty quarter for good instead. Estimated Value: $12 to $16. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
