A 90 percent silver Washington quarter from the Denver Mint, the D clear on the reverse below the wreath. This one is a touch better than most circulated survivors. The cheek is smooth, but the hair curls at the neck and part of the ribbon detail survive, and the reverse eagle shows some breast feather separation at the edges. Even grey with light golden toning at the rims and a faint purple-grey cast in the obverse field. Rims are full, with no dings and no corrosion. The coin holds 0.1808 troy ounces of pure silver, roughly $11.95 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. Worth knowing: the mint mark on this design sat on the reverse below the wreath only through 1964. When mint marks returned in 1968 after a three-year absence, they moved to the obverse beside Washington's ponytail, where they still sit today. Estimated Value: $12 to $16. Sold as-is.
