A 90 percent silver Morgan dollar from Carson City, both C's of the CC mint mark sharp below the wreath bow. The coin looks uncirculated. Mint frost covers the cheek, the hair above the ear and the cap, the eagle's breast and leg feathers are crisp, and we see no wear on the high points. Bright white with a faint golden cast at the rims and scattered contact marks in the left field. It holds 0.7734 troy ounces of pure silver, roughly $51 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, so check spot. Here is what a Carson City buyer should know. More than half of all 1882-CC dollars survive in mint state, because they never circulated. They sat in Treasury vaults for decades and went out through the GSA sales of the 1970s. A raw coin outside a GSA holder is the least valuable of the three forms, behind a GSA coin and a certified one. The flip is marked MS64 in the consignor's hand.
