A 90 percent silver Walking Liberty half dollar from San Francisco. The S sits on the reverse at lower left, below the pine branch, small but clearly in focus. Wear is moderate and even. Liberty's head, hand and the gown lines over the leading leg are worn, but the skirt lines are largely present and the sun rays complete. The eagle shows separated breast feathers and full leg feathers with the breast and left wing high points flattened. Light grey with faint gold at the rims and a few dark specks in the right obverse field. Rims complete, no corrosion, no scratching. It holds 0.3617 troy ounces of pure silver, roughly $23.85 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, so check spot before you bid. Adolph Weinman designed this half and the Mercury dime in the same year, 1916, which is why the two share their crisp low-relief lettering. The coin is graded XF by the consignor. This coin is raw and has not been certified by PCGS or NGC, so the grade reflects the consignor's opinion. Estimated Value: $30 to $45. Sold as-is.
