A 90 percent silver Standing Liberty quarter with no readable date, offered honestly as what it is. The consignor's flip says 1917 T2 S, but the exergue below the pedestal has worn completely smooth and no digits are left. The date is not legible on the coin. The attribution comes from the consignor's flip and is unverified, so we will not carry a date into the title. Here is why this happens so often: on this design the date sits up on a raised pedestal, the most exposed spot on the coin, so traffic wears it away first, and the mint mark sits right beside it on that same pedestal. An S is in fact visible there, but a mint mark without a date attributes nothing. The reverse shows three stars below the eagle, confirming Type II. Liberty is a flat silhouette though LIBERTY and IN GOD WE TRVST still read, and there is no corrosion or rim damage. Dateless quarters trade as bullion, and a well worn one carries a little less metal than a full weight coin; melt near $66 silver is about $11.95. Estimated Value: $12 to $18. Sold as-is.
