An Indian Head cent that is genuine and undated. The obverse has worn to a nearly flat silhouette and the exergue below the portrait, where the date belongs, is smooth; no digits can be resolved. The date is not legible on the coin. The attribution comes from the consignor's flip and is unverified, so we offer it as an unattributed example of the type rather than as the 1874 the flip claims. The reverse survived far better, with a complete ONE CENT and the outline of the oak wreath and shield. The area below the wreath ribbon is in focus and empty, consistent with a Philadelphia coin. Surfaces are dark chocolate brown with a few tiny greenish specks near the portrait and reddish patches at the right reverse rim. It is graded G by the consignor. This coin is raw and has not been certified by PCGS or NGC, so the grade reflects the consignor's opinion. Indian cents ran from 1859 to 1909, and on worn examples the date is always the first casualty. Estimated Value: $2 to $5. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
