16 Pieces: Foreign Coins, OPA Tokens, Medal

A mixed group of 16 pieces, not all of them foreign coins. Present are 8 Canadian one cent pieces with dates read as 1939, 1943, 1943, 1947, 1955 and 1958 plus two George VI cents whose dates are not legible; a 1954 Mexico 20 Centavos with the Mo mint mark under the numeral; a 1955 Argentina 50 Centavos; three United States WWII OPA RED POINT ration tokens; one North American Hunting Club Whitetail Deer brass medallion; one dark zinc coin whose legend has been eaten away by porous corrosion so the country cannot be identified; and one disc so heavily encrusted that all design, date and country are gone. The Canadian cents are circulated chocolate brown with light spotting and dark carbon flecks. The Argentina coin is dull gray with heavy scratches and rim nicks. The tokens are the lesson: in 1944 the Office of Price Administration issued red fiber tokens for meat and fat rations and blue ones for processed foods, pressed from fiber because metal was needed for the war.
