(8) Series 1976 $2 Federal Reserve Notes

Eight United States $2 Federal Reserve Notes, all Series 1976, with the Jefferson portrait on the face and the Trumbull Declaration of Independence scene on the back. All eight carry green Treasury seals and the Neff and Simon signatures. The districts break down as four Kansas City, two St. Louis, one Chicago and one Dallas, so six of the eight were issued through Missouri banks. Every note is circulated and none is crisp. All show at least one hard vertical center fold, with soft limp paper and wavy edges; among them are soiled edges, rounded and blunted corners, light foxing spots, small edge nicks and one small corner tear on the back of one note. There are no star notes and no fancy serial numbers in the group. Said kindly but said plainly: $2 bills are not rare. The 1976 Bicentennial reissue ran past 590 million notes, and most were tucked away on the first day rather than spent, so circulated examples trade close to face. Most of what you are buying is the $16 in face value. Estimated Value: $16 to $24. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
