1993 $100 Federal Reserve Note, Ink and Stain

One United States $100 Federal Reserve Note, Series 1993, New York district, serial B69412669A, green seal, Withrow and Bentsen signatures. It is the older small-portrait design, the last before the 1996 redesign moved Franklin off center and added the watermark. The note is well circulated and limp, with folds left of the portrait and right of the seal, a horizontal center fold, fine wrinkles in the right third and a dirty gray-tan cast with darker soil at the edges. The upper left corner is bent, the lower left rounded, the right end nicked. A small dark ink squiggle sits on the face right of the Treasurer's signature, and the back carries a pinkish-red stain at the left edge with a second faint pink mark below it. Plain talk: a circulated 1990s note with no star, no fancy serial and no error is worth face value only, and this one is marked and stained besides. Add the 15 percent premium and a bid over about $87 costs more than the note is worth, so the estimate sits under face. Estimated Value: $85 to $90. Sold as-is.
