1990 $50 Federal Reserve Note, San Francisco

One United States $50 Federal Reserve Note, Series 1990, San Francisco district, serial L71601808A, green Treasury seal, with the Villalpando and Brady signatures, Grant on the face and the Capitol on the back. It is heavily circulated and limp, with at least three hard vertical folds plus a horizontal center fold, wrinkling throughout, and a grubby gray-tan tone with darker soiling at the top edge and through the right field. The upper right corner is bent forward and slightly torn, the lower left is soft and rounded, the edges carry small nicks, and a short shallow split sits near the center of the bottom edge. On the back there is a dark smudge and stain at the bottom center below DOLLARS, and both lower corners are blunted. Series 1990 was the first to add the embedded security thread and microprinting around the portrait. Honest talk: a circulated 1990s note with no star, no fancy serial and no error is worth face value only, and this one is stained and edge-split besides. Estimated Value: $43 to $45. Sold as-is.
