(7) Series 1976 $2 Notes, One Ink Marked

Seven United States $2 Federal Reserve Notes, all Series 1976, Jefferson on the face and the Trumbull Declaration of Independence scene on the back, all with green Treasury seals and the Neff and Simon signatures. Six were issued through Kansas City and one through Chicago. All seven are circulated. Note G63746397A carries RED PEN INK on its face, a scribbled red loop just left of the green Treasury seal, together with tan and brown soiling along the left and top edges; that ink cannot come off without harming the paper and it pins that note at face value. J19675369A has a small stain in the upper right. The rest show folds, handling soil, rounded or blunted corners and wavy edges, with J04097048A the firmest of the group. J00823333A ends in 3333, which is fun to look at but is not one of the serial patterns collectors pay extra for. Kindly but honestly: $2 bills are not rare. More than 590 million Series 1976 notes were printed and most were saved, not spent. Estimated Value: $14 to $20. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
