This roll is open and not sealed. The kraft wrapper printed AUTOMATIC COIN WRAPPER has been unrolled and the coin stack sits beside it, so the contents cannot be confirmed as a full forty coins and the coins are never laid out singly to be counted. The handwriting reads Bi Centenial, Quarters, $10, but that is the consignor's ink, not proof. The end coin obverse is dated 1776-1976 with a small, softly rendered D right of the hair ribbon, medium gray with warm brown-gold toning and a brighter patch at the cheek. The end coin reverse carries deep golden-orange and rose iridescence over the whole drummer side with full detail, the color a coin picks up sitting in paper for decades. That is the lesson here: sulfur in a paper wrapper tones the two end coins far more than the protected coins inside, so end coins rarely represent the roll. These are clad quarters with no silver, over 1.6 billion were struck, and a circulated roll is worth about its face. Estimated Value: $8 to $12. Sold as-is.
