1776-1976 D Bicentennial Quarter Roll Toned Ends

A clad Bicentennial quarter roll, still factory crimped and never opened, so only the two exposed end coins can be assessed and the balance cannot be confirmed. The wrapper is plain orange and its printed denomination panel is never shown squarely, so the $10 amount cannot be read off this wrapper. The handwriting says only Bi Centenial. The obverse end coin is dated 1776-1976 with a D right of the ribbon, softly struck but readable, and carries heavy orange-gold and brown toning with darker patches that look grimy rather than lustrous. The reverse end coin is toned tan-gray with a small distinctly green speck in the left field near the drum, possible verdigris. Detail is full on both ends. On how these rolls work: paper wrappers are crimped at both ends by hand or machine, hiding every coin but the two on the ends, so no bidder can know the interior without breaking the roll. Clad quarters hold no silver, over 1.6 billion Bicentennials were struck, and circulated ones trade at face. Estimated Value: $8 to $12. Sold as-is.
