1776-1976 Bicentennial Quarter Roll Opened

This roll has been opened. The kraft bank wrapper is soft, crumpled and stained and the coin stack has been slid out onto the paper, so the roll is not sealed and the contents could have been picked through. The coins are never fanned or laid out singly, so no count is possible, and the printed THIS PACKAGE CONTAINS boxes are blank, meaning nothing on the wrapper states $10. The visible end coin is dated 1776-1976 and shows heavy uneven deep brown and plum toning with black patches plus a bright silver-white scrape across the jaw and lower field. The mint mark position is covered by that toning and out of focus, so no letter can be read. The other end coin is lighter gray with full drummer detail, and the stack edges show the copper-orange banding of the clad core. Bidders ask about silver Bicentennials: the 1976-S collector sets were struck in 40 percent silver and those pieces truly are silver, but circulation strikes like these are clad and hold none.
