1776-1976-D Kennedy Bicentennial Halves (5)

Five copper-nickel clad Kennedy half dollars with the 1776-1976 Bicentennial dual date, every one showing a D mint mark below the neck truncation. The strikes are sharp and there is no wear on the high points, so all five appear uncirculated. Luster is a subdued satin and several coins carry golden-tan and pale rose rim toning. Condition notes: one coin has a small dark speck on the cheek and light gray haze, and in the group reverse photograph the center coin shows a dark blotchy stain about three to four millimeters across in the upper left field beside Independence Hall. Minor contact ticks are scattered through the group, with no rim dings worth calling out. Only a group reverse was photographed. Denver struck more than 287 million Bicentennial halves, so these are common coins that survive in quantity because the public set them aside. They are clad and contain no silver; the 40 percent silver Bicentennial halves were sold only in San Francisco collector sets. Estimated Value: $5 to $10. Sold as-is.
