(5) 1776-1976-D Bicentennial Halves Obverse Only

Five Kennedy Bicentennial half dollars, each dated 1776-1976 with a legible D below the neck truncation, in copper-nickel clad. No silver and no melt value. Note before bidding: the reverse was never photographed. All six images are obverse views, so the reverse is not confirmed on any coin here, and the lot sells on what the obverses show. Condition varies: two are clean, one with light gray-tan toning and tan flecks on the neck and left rim, one with light gold-tan toning and a few ticks; one is bright with light hairlines; one has gold-tan toning at the left rim and a grainy surface. At least two carry dense fine hairline scratches across the obverse field and portrait with dull surfaces, and one shows an orange-tan stain in the left field. Those surfaces show hairlines consistent with an old cleaning, and PCGS and NGC would return such coins as details rather than a straight grade. The Independence Hall reverse was designed by Seth Huntington, winner of a national competition. Estimated Value: $5 to $9. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
