1964 Kennedy Half 90 Percent Silver Spotted

A 1964 Kennedy half dollar in 90 percent silver from Philadelphia. The reverse mint mark position below the eagle's tail feathers is in focus and empty, and nothing appears under the neck on the obverse, so no mint mark is present. Hair and eagle detail are full and the coin looks uncirculated or nearly so. Surfaces are white with a light gray cast and carry several small tan and orange brown spots: one on the jaw, one on the cheek, a cluster in the lower left field near IN GOD, one in the hair above the forehead and small flecks near the right rim, plus two or three on the reverse. These are toning spots rather than green corrosion, but they are permanent. No scratches or rim damage. It holds about 0.3617 troy ounce of pure silver, roughly $23.85 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. Philadelphia struck over 273 million halves in 1964, so the date is common and always will be. Estimated Value: $24 to $32. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
