1964 Kennedy Half 90 Percent Silver Hazy

A 1964 Kennedy half dollar in 90 percent silver. No mint mark is present: the reverse position below the eagle's tail feathers is in focus and empty, and there is nothing under the neck on the obverse, so this is a Philadelphia strike. Detail is uncirculated or very close, with full hair and eagle feathers, white surfaces with a light gray cast and faint gold at the rims. Two things to note. A gray brown haze runs across the cheek, jaw and neck on the obverse, and a small raised gold brown speck sits in the reverse right field beside the arrows; it reads as debris or a stain rather than corrosion, but it is noticeable. A few small ticks are present. It holds about 0.3617 troy ounce of pure silver, roughly $23.85 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. Silver halves left circulation quickly after 1964, which is why so many survive with full mint detail alongside storage haze like this. Estimated Value: $24 to $32. Sold as-is.
