1967 Kennedy Half 40 Percent Silver Satin

A 1967 Kennedy half dollar struck in 40 percent silver clad. The photographs show a coin with full design detail and no wear on the hair or the cheek, so it appears to grade uncirculated, though the surfaces are satiny rather than fully frosty. Light gray-tan toning rings the rims. Look closely and you will see scattered fine hairlines and small contact ticks in the obverse fields, a couple of small gray-brown flecks on the cheek and jaw, one more fleck near the date, and a few faint tan spots in the lower left reverse field. No corrosion. There is no mint mark, and that is correct rather than an error: the Mint left mint marks off every coin struck from 1965 through 1967 to discourage the coin shortage hoarding of that era, so no 1967 half of any mint carries a letter. The coin holds about 0.1479 troy ounces of pure silver. That works out to roughly $9.75 in silver at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal prices move, so check spot before you bid.
