1964 Kennedy Half 90 Percent Silver Lustrous

A 1964 Kennedy half dollar, the only year the design was struck in 90 percent silver. The photographs show a fully struck coin with no wear on the high points, bright white with strong luster and a faint pale-gold tone at the extreme rim, so it appears to grade uncirculated. Scattered light bag marks and short hairlines cross the obverse fields, there is a small tan speck below the ear, and the reverse carries a couple of tiny tan flecks left of the shield. No corrosion and no rim damage. A very small raised mark sits below the eagle tail feathers where a 1964 mint mark belongs, but it is too soft at this magnification to read as a letter, so we are not calling a mint. The coin holds 0.3617 troy ounces of pure silver. That works out to roughly $23.85 in silver at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal prices move, so check spot before you bid. The public hoarded these the moment they were released after the assassination, which is why so many survive with no wear. Estimated Value: $25 to $34. Sold as-is.
