A 1964-D Kennedy half dollar in 90 percent silver, struck at Denver. The consignment sheet listed no mint mark, but a D is visible on the reverse below the eagle's tail feathers, between the tail and the claw, above the word HALF. That is the correct position for a 1964, and the same spot is plainly empty on the other 1964 halves in this consignment, so the letter is real and not a stray mark. It is small in the photographs, so look closely before you bid. The coin is brilliant uncirculated with full hair strands and sharp eagle feathers, bright white with a light gray gold cast and frosty luster. A few small tan flecks show on the cheek and in the fields. No wear, corrosion or scratches. It holds about 0.3617 troy ounce of pure silver, roughly $23.85 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. Denver added about 156 million halves in 1964 to Philadelphia's 273 million, so neither mint is scarce. Estimated Value: $24 to $32. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
