1968-D Kennedy Half Dollar 40 Pct Silver AU

A 1968-D Kennedy half dollar in 40 percent silver clad from Denver. The D mint mark sits on the obverse below the neck truncation, soft in the first photograph and legible in the closer one. The coin grades about uncirculated, with hair detail nearly full and light rub on the highest hair points and the cheekbone. Surfaces are white to pale gray with a dull gray brown haze over the cheek, jaw and neck and light tan toning at the rims. The reverse is lustrous with light gold toning and small dark flecks near the eagle's wing. No corrosion, scratches or rim damage. It holds 0.1479 troy ounce of pure silver, roughly $9.75 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. Here is a fact worth carrying: Philadelphia struck no half dollars for circulation in 1968 at all, so every 1968 half that saw pocket change came out of Denver, about 246 million of them.
