1968-D Kennedy Half Dollar 40 Pct Silver

A 1968-D Kennedy half dollar in 40 percent silver clad, struck at Denver. The D mint mark sits on the obverse below Kennedy's neck truncation, directly above the 9 of the date, and it is clear in both obverse photographs. That position is the lesson on this coin: mint marks returned in 1968 after a three year absence, and the Mint moved the half dollar mark from the reverse, where it had sat below the eagle's tail through 1964, to the obverse, where it has stayed ever since. The coin is brilliant uncirculated with full hair and eagle detail, pale gold and light tan toning over lustrous white surfaces and deeper gold at the rims. A couple of faint tan flecks show in the obverse field. No wear, scratches or corrosion. It contains 0.1479 troy ounce of pure silver, roughly $9.75 at recent prices near $66 per ounce, and metal moves, so check spot before you bid. Estimated Value: $10 to $14. Sold as-is.
