A 1904 Indian Head cent with rough surfaces. The date reads clearly on the closer obverse photograph. No mint mark sits below the wreath and none is expected on a Philadelphia coin of this series. Detail runs about very good, with most feathers and the headdress band present and LIBERTY not readable. Condition is the story here. The color is uneven, dark charcoal to black over the portrait and fields with lighter tan brown at the rims, and the surfaces look porous and environmentally damaged rather than smoothly toned. A small blue green speck sits at the bottom rim on the reverse. Green deposits on copper can keep working in damp storage, so this coin should be kept dry and stored apart from better material. Copper carries no melt value. For context, storage is exactly why a problem free Indian cent brings several times what a rough one brings with the same date on it. Estimated Value: $2 to $5.
