Antique clear pressed glass kerosene oil lamp complete with its chimney. The base is a stepped and domed foot pressed with a scroll and leaf pattern, about six inches across. A short pedestal stem rises to a rounded font, and above that sits a brass colored burner holding a fitted clear glass chimney. With the chimney in place the lamp stands roughly seventeen to eighteen inches tall. The original cloth wick is still coiled inside the font and can be seen through the glass. The wick thumbwheel is embossed with worn lettering, but the letters CONN are visible along the lower edge, pointing to one of the Connecticut burner makers that supplied most of the American lamp trade. The glass is clean and bright with no chips or cracks in the base, font, or chimney. Condition is very good for the age. Complete examples with the original chimney and burner still together bring noticeably more than a bare font. With a fresh wick and lamp oil it could be put back into service. Estimated Value: $30 to $60 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
