Produced in Germany during the early 20th century, this antique bisque head doll is identified by incised markings to the reverse of the head as mold 390n. The markings include D.R.G.M. (Deutsche Reichs-Gebrauchsmuster) 246/1 and the maker initials A.M. The doll features a fine bisque porcelain head with blue glass sleep eyes, painted upper and lower lashes, and an open mouth revealing four upper teeth. It retains a blonde mohair wig styled in ringlet curls. The composition body is fully ball-jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees. The doll is presented in a period-style peach pleated fabric dress with lace inserts and ruffled details, accompanied by a large matching hat accented with satin ribbons and flowers. The attire is completed with white knit socks and vintage brown-soled shoes. 22 inches. The bisque head is in good condition with no visible cracks or chips, and the sleep eye mechanism is functional. The composition body exhibits expected age-related wear including surface crazing and minor finish loss to the joints and torso. The mohair wig and period clothing show typical signs of age and gentle handling.
