Kley & Hahn Model 45 German Character Doll

Kley & Hahn shoulder-head character doll featuring a molded bisque head with a brown mohair wig. Facial decoration includes brown glass sleep eyes with painted lashes, feathered eyebrows, and an open mouth with four inset upper teeth. The doll features a mixed-material body with a stuffed cloth torso and upper arms, composition lower arms, and gusseted kid leather legs. The shoulder plate is incised K & K 45 Made in Germany. The head is glued onto the body at the shoulder plate. The composition hands are painted and restored. Accompanied by an antique-style white cotton and lace ensemble including a long christening-style gown, matching petticoat, bloomers, knit socks, and a lace bonnet with satin ribbon ties. 15 inches. The doll presents in good overall condition with expected age wear. The bisque head is free of visible cracks or restorations. Sleep eye mechanism is functional. The cloth torso and leather legs exhibit characteristic staining and darkening commensurate with age. There is a visible glue repair to the shoulder plate area where the head is glued onto the body and the hands have been restored and repainted. Clothing shows minor scattered age spots.
