An antique German doll by Recknagel featuring the incised mold number 63. This doll is constructed with a bisque socket head, brown glass sleep eyes with painted lashes, feathered eyebrows, and an open mouth with four inset porcelain upper teeth. It features a wavy light brown wig. The doll is mounted on a 15-piece fully articulated ball-jointed composition and wood body. It is presented with a collection of period-appropriate clothing including a red and white plaid cotton dress with a lace-trimmed collar and inset cream-colored chest panel. Included undergarments consist of a white cotton sleeveless chemise with eyelet lace trim, white cotton bloomers with lace trim at the leg openings, and a pair of light brown ribbed knit stockings. The reverse of the neck bears the incised marks Made in Germany and 63. Height: 23 inches. This doll displays expected age-related wear to the composition body including surface crazing and minor finish loss. The bisque head is in good condition with adhesive residue at the ears. A puncture is noted on one leg and a broken finger is present alongside an old repair to the left thumb. The vintage clothing is well-preserved with light wear.
