J.D. Kestner 168 German Red Cross Nurse Doll 23 in

Antique J.D. Kestner mold 168 bisque socket head doll on a fully jointed composition and wood body. The doll features a brown mohair wig styled in a bun with bangs, blue glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes, feathered eyebrows, and an open mouth with four porcelain upper teeth. Dressed in a complete Red Cross nurse ensemble, the costume includes a blue and white striped long-sleeved cotton dress, a white cotton apron with a red cross pin, a white nurse cap, and a set of white cotton undergarments including a slip and lace-trimmed pantaloons. The outfit is finished with black knit stockings and black patent leather lace-up shoes. The back of the head is incised with the mold number 168and 98 at the base of the neck. The lower back bears a red rectangular stamp with GERMANY and the number 3392 below. Height: 23 inches. The bisque head is in good condition. The composition body shows expected age-related wear with some composition loss at the hip joints and feet. The themed costume and undergarments remain clean and well-preserved.
