Effanbee Anne Shirley jointed composition doll featuring a five-piece body and head with brown sleep eyes, lashes, and painted facial features. The doll has a brown mohair wig that has been restyled and cleaned. The upper back is incised with the marks EFFANBEE and ANNE SHIRLEY. The doll has been restrung for stability. She is dressed in her original blue sleeveless gown with a pleated bodice, tiered lace trim, and pink ribbon bows at the shoulders. The ensemble is completed with new white cotton undergarments including a ruffled petticoat and pantaloons, as well as white knit socks with blue stripes and new white buckled shoes. 18 inches. This doll exhibits typical character consistent with age, including light surface crazing and minor paint wear to the limbs and extremities. The facial paint and restyled mohair wig remain presentable. The original gown shows gentle toning, and the doll has been expertly restrung.
