Stern & Petersen German Bisque Head Toddler Doll

An antique German bisque head doll manufactured for Stern & Petersen featuring a ball-jointed composition toddler body. The head is incised with the marks Germany over 22 at the crown and St.P over 2 3/4 at the base of the neck. The doll is fitted with a light brown mohair style wig with a fringe and curls, adorned with a pale mint green silk bow and a protective hairnet. It features blue glass sleep eyes with painted upper and lower lashes and an open mouth with four molded upper teeth and painted lips. The doll is dressed in a comprehensive period-style outfit comprising a blue and white striped cotton dress with puffed sleeves, a white swiss-dot pinafore with lace trim and mother-of-pearl buttons, a white sleeveless chemise, white bloomers with pink-tinted lace hems, white knit lace socks, and cream-colored leather tie shoes with decorative cut-outs. Height: 19 inches. The bisque head is in good condition with no visible hairlines or chips. The composition body shows expected age-related wear including surface cracking and peeling at the hip and knee joints. A structural crack is present at the right wrist. The multi-piece wardrobe is well-preserved and shows minimal wear.
