German bisque socket head doll featuring the 1916 mold produced by C.M. Bergmann in Waltershausen. The head is constructed with feathered eyebrows, painted upper and lower eyelashes, a dimpled chin, and an open mouth revealing four porcelain upper teeth. The doll features brown glass sleep eyes, which are currently fixed in the open position. The wavy light brown mohair wig has been cleaned and restyled. The doll is mounted on a fully jointed composition and wood body with red-painted accents on the fingernails and toenails. The doll is dressed in a complete vintage ensemble consisting of a white cotton floral-print dress with blue and pink flowers and a purple waist sash, a lace-trimmed cotton chemise, a matching petticoat and bloomers, white knitted socks, and black synthetic buckled shoes. The back of the neck is incised with maker marks reading C.M. Bergmann, Waltershausen, 1916, 6. Height: 23 inches. This antique doll displays expected signs of age and play wear. The bisque head remains in good overall condition with some light surface grime. The composition body shows age-related wear, including chipping and peeling of the finish at the neck socket, hip joints, knees, and fingertips. The eye mechanism is currently stationary in the open position. Vintage clothing shows light yellowing and minor staining consistent with long-term storage.
