1887 Seated Liberty Dime, struck at the Philadelphia Mint. This late-19th-century U.S. silver dime is a classic issue from the long-running Seated Liberty series and a popular piece among collectors of historic American coinage. The Seated Liberty Dime was designed by Christian Gobrecht and features Liberty seated on a rock, holding a liberty pole and shield on the obverse. The reverse displays the denomination “ONE DIME” within a wreath. The 1887 Philadelphia issue had a mintage of 12,897,687 coins. Philadelphia Mint examples carry no mint mark. The coin was struck in 90% silver and 10% copper, weighs approximately 2.50 grams, measures about 17.9 mm in diameter, and features a reeded edge.
