This original oil painting on board by Rudi Reichardt is titled Sparrow Hawk. The composition is a realist wildlife study featuring an American Kestrel perched on a weathered, splintered wooden fence post. The bird is detailed with fine brushwork showing plumage in rufous, gray, and white tones. The background consists of a dark, vertically-grained wooden wall to the left and an autumnal landscape with yellow-hued trees and a clouded sky to the right. The artwork is signed Reichardt in the lower right corner. The verso of the hardboard support contains handwritten inscriptions including the artist's signature R. Reichardt, a monogrammed symbol, the title Sparrow Hawk, and the medium Oil. A gallery label from the Beckett Gallery in Hamilton, Ontario, is attached to the back. The painting is set within a layered frame comprising a dark wood outer moulding, a silver-toned inner liner, and a linen fillet. With frame measures - 30" x 20.5" Painting measures - 22" x 18" Condition: The painting is in good condition, showing no visible signs of paint loss, flaking, or craquelure. The frame and linen fillet exhibit minor surface wear and light soil consistent with age.
