This contemporary mixed-media work on paper, titled Gondolas in Flooded St. Mark's Sq, is by the Canadian artist David C. Drum. Executed in acrylic washes, inks, and pastel, the piece depicts an atmospheric scene of Venice's Piazza San Marco during an Acqua Alta flood. The composition features the glowing golden facades of St. Mark's Basilica and the Campanile set against a vibrant, textured deep blue sky, with gondolas navigating the flooded square in the foreground. The work is signed DRUM in red pigment to the lower right. The paper backing includes extensive handwritten inscriptions detailing the artist's full name, biographical information, the title of the work, the media used, the date 2010, the location Crystal Beach, and the reference number 2909. The artwork is housed in a dark wooden frame with a beaded inner border and is double-matted with a forest green outer mat and a cream inner mat. Dimensions: Frame approx. H 62.2 cm x W 50.2 cm (measured against a ruler showing inches only). Condition: The work is in good condition, with no visible evidence of foxing, toning, or moisture damage to the paper. The frame and glazing are well-preserved with only minor superficial wear to the edges.
